Monday Motivation

Have you been watching the olympics? It's just incredible what the athletes have accomplished! So many stories of over coming crazy odds, hard work, and determination. It really got me thinking about how the first step on the road to any dream can be so daunting. Yet, one tiny step forward can bring your dream giant leaps toward you! Before you know it one step turns into two, then three and before you know it your running full speed ahead!

So today I challenge you to do one thing. Just one tiny step towards your goal. Maybe its signing up for a class, finally registering for a blog, starting your Etsy shop (even if you dont have an item yet!), choosing a healthier snack, going for a walk, making that call, taking a minute for yourself, or simply telling someone you love them. No matter what you want in life, do one thing today. I promise just taking the first tiny step will make you feel so good and bring you one step closer to your dream!

A Little Friday Magic

There are so many questions in life. Should I date this person? What should I do in my career? How can I fix this? Which option is right? Am I on the right path? Where is that freakin’ other sock?  It gets overwhelming, especially when life gets crazy as it usually does and your trying to make big decisions under a mountain of stress. You end up with your head in your hands saying “I just don’t know what to do?” You ask anyone and everyone around you for their thoughts yet still end up right where you started. Head in hands.

Well, I am about to help you answer all of your questions and I don’t even know what they are! (take that David Blaine!) Ready?

Look. Inside. Yourself.

What do you want?

This seemingly easy question is all to often over looked in decision making.   Especially when there are “big” questions happening in life. Which is ironic because its the question that has the answer.

It doesn’t matter if your questions is work, life, or love related if you don’t know what YOU want, how can you possibly tell anyone else? If you don’t know what you need how can you ask your partner for it? If you don’t know where you want to go with your career, how can you ask anyone to help you get there? If you don’t know how you feel about something with out other people’s input, how can you be sure your making choices that are right for you?

Self awareness is learning about you and learning about you is growing as a person. That’s how we move forward, thats how we evolve as people. Have you ever noticed that person that just never seems to grow up or move forward? They complain but never do anything to change their circumstances? That’s a person who is looking outward for the answers instead of inward towards enlightenment.

Get to know yourself!

Did I hear you say how do I do that? well...
Try starting with this question: What do you value?
An exercise that helped me with this is to think of 3 people you admire. List out the qualities you admire in them, what makes them a role model for you? Their kindness? Their genuineness? The way they respect others? The things you list are some of the things you value in others and consequently in yourself! Knowing what you value can help you better clarify what you want in life.

See I want you to get clear on what you want and gain self awareness because not only will it make you a better friend, significant other, boss, employee, it will help you make every choice with a sense of inner purpose. It will set you up to really let your uniqueness shine!

By the way, the answer to your sock question, is the sock monster has stolen it or its still stuck to the side of the washer.

Bad Hair Day

Some days are just rough and on those days when I need a mental break, I look for some visual sunshine, so here are few images of some things that are makin' me smile right now! Have a swig and see if they dont make you smile too!

I just bought this adorable print for our apartment! It's called Bad Hair Day.

True Story: I love and will squeal with delight over tiny objects. I have a ton of these chickens and take pics of them in different random places. They are just so silly looking!

Speaking of silly! I mean really, who doesn't love a cat in a bag? Meet Thunder.
One of our 2 furry boys. If there is a box or bag around you can bet he will be in it.

Love the message and the image from Letterhappy!
Maybe my next Etsy purchase!

What is inspiring you today?

Monday Motivation

Happy Monday! This weekend was full of family, fun, and some serious fireworks! If you live near Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, I highly recommend the fireworks and fountains show! I have never seen more beautiful fireworks! The Light exhibit is also happening right now and it seriously is like walking through Ferngully! Not to mention the grounds themselves are beautiful on their own. We also had some fun food adventures at Half Moon Saloon where I tried an Elk burger and Alpaca sausage. Both were really good!

So many moments and things this weekend were so inspiring and I'm so grateful for each part. It just reminded me to be open to new adventures. You just never know when the universe will surprise you with something delicious or indescribably beautiful! Life IS too short for regrets!  Make today the day you try something different! Take one small step toward a dream.  Pick a new flavor of coffee. You might be surprised where it leads you!

Skipping Straight To Cloud 10

Don’t die with your music (stories/talents) still inside you.
Listen to your intuitive inner voice and find what passion stirs your soul.
Wayne Dyer

I have to start by saying thank you for all the generous love and support I’ve received just in the last week or so since starting this blog. I’m really overwhelmed with love! I don’t know if I can fully express how freaking excited I am about this blog. It’s not even so much the blog I’m excited about (but I am!) as much as the whole picture! This blog is the first step to me grabbing my life by the horns and starting to steer it in the direction I want to go! More importantly, I know what direction I want to go in and having a direction and a destination in mind makes it so much damn easier to map out how to get there!

The first post I put up took a long time to write. I was really nervous about putting it up because it meant a lot to me. It was my first step in my direction and, as with any first step, you’re always afraid to fail.

Then I posted it and the sense of freedom, joy, and love is just unexplainable! It’s a feeling I want everyone to have! It’s that moment when you realize that you are on your path to your true calling... to your true passion! As Wayne Dyer says above, it is a soul stirring moment or as Oprah says an “Ah-ha” moment. I’m excited. I’m full of ideas and creativity! I’m committed to this dream and to do what it takes to make it a reality!

I’ve read that when you are fulfilling yourself first that you naturally become more generous with others. You want them to feel fulfilled too and I can honestly say its so true! I want to shout from the roof tops and start a flash mob in the rain dancing to Scissor Sisters “I don’t feel like dancing”. (who’s title is the complete opposite of what that song makes you want to do!)

See, I know I am blessed with some amazing people in my life. At work, at home, in my friends and family. I want for all of them and for everyone to find their calling, their purpose, the thing that makes them ring like a dang bell at Christmas! Because that kind of passion and light is contagious and I think we need way more of it in this world!

This is the reason I want to add coaching to my life. That is what a life coach does. They help clients ask the deeper questions to find their inner selves again or for the first time. They can help you figure out what you want to do with your life and your career. They help you find your own strengths and identify your weaknesses so you can work through them. The are fog lights for those stuck in a mist of confusion. They guide but will never tell you the answer because the only one who knows the answers to your life is you! Coaches, in my opinion, shine positivity and optimism on the world and I want to be part of that. I want to help everyone have a better sense of who they are and where they want to go! I want to help them find the things that stir their souls and help them share their songs with the world! And I want to cheer the heck out of them when they find it!

There is only one you in this world and its so beautifully unique, why wouldn’t you want to find and share your song!

*Note: That is my cat, Thunder, letting his true calling shine...being adorable. It's a rough life being a cat!

Love, The Universe

Whoever said that you can't have it all must have been a young soul.
Among other things, time and space actually exist to teach you that you can.

Rock it,
    The Universe

A few years ago a friend of mine introduced me to Notes from the Universe. Every morning since then I have gotten a little pick me up in my inbox that I just adore. It's always a sweet reminder to believe in yourself, the power of your thoughts, and that the universe loves and is always working for you! Which with all the things you have to do in a day, can be easy to forget. It really starts my morning off on a good note (pun intended?) and reminds me that I'm not alone in making my dreams come true!

Yesterday, was the 10 year anniversary of The Notes from the Universe! And because I love them so much I wanted to share with you! If you want to have a swig of sunshine from the universe sent to you hit this link and let the love shine in!

Gettin' over the hump!

If you happen to be driving and see a yellow mini with a girl in it singing and dancing away, that is probably me rockin' out! Yes, I am that girl who sings at the top of her lungs in the car and if its a particularly good song will snap my fingers (thats how you know your getting older, haha) and start bobbin' my head!

There is really just nothing better than some good tunes to get your day going. I love all kinds of music but there is a special place in my heart for some 70's disco and obviously some MJ! This particular song came on my Spotify a few days ago and I was instantly shakin' my booty in my seat! It has been my morning inspiration song every day since! Give it a listen if you can, and tell me if you can keep from dancing in your seat! Plus check out those Michael moves!

The first swig is the deepest

This has been a year of change. No, more a few years of roller coaster craziness BUT every moment has been worth it because of where I am today and where I'm going.

A few years back I had a bit of a quarter life crisis. The kind where your driving down life’s highway, just cruisin’, you see the fork in the road, put on your blinker, and BAM crash into the guard rail, falling through, landing in a pile of crap. (Gross) I lost my way, my path, and myself. That sounds dramatic but if you’ve ever gone through it yourself or know someone who has, its a rough road. For me it felt like I’d lost control of my life and I didn’t recognize myself anymore. I did everything I was “supposed” to do on the road of life but I was still drowning. So I made some really hard choices.  I followed these hard choices with some fast jumps to keep me from dealing with the past. A dash of holding on way too long after I should have let go. A bunch of trying to find myself in other people until finally I found myself laying on the floor of my first ever apartment alone (with my cats. great, crazy cat lady by my mid 20’s).

I didn’t realize at the time, but this was the best thing that could have happened to me. For the first time in my life, I was forced to deal with myself. I had a ton of wonderful friends and family as a support system, don’t get me wrong. Every day though, I came home to myself. When you have ignored yourself and your issues for a long time, your “self” has a lot of bones to pick with you. I did a lot of reflecting and realized that I really didn’t know myself anymore at all. What did I want? What did I value? And the lofty who am I now?

So I took an awesome E-course called “The Declaration of You” and through that got a life coach (The amazeballs, Michelle Ward!). One of the best decisions of my life. She helped me really dig deep and ask some tough questions. This started my journey to redefine my life, to re-evaluate what I value most, and most importantly to start becoming authentically me.

It has been a long journey but today I can say it has been worth the ride. I know myself better now and I’m working on that every day. I finally learned how to live alone with myself and enjoy it. Then I met a fantastic man who is teaching me just how much you can love another person and be loved in return. I still have my sweet adorable cats and I have a purpose. I know what I value most and I’m working every day on living my life by them, on celebrating all those things that make me authentically me.

I’ve been trying to start this blog for a few years but it took getting to know myself better to finally figure out what I wanted to say and that I actually HAD something to say.
My hope for this blog is that its a place I can share my journey to become a life coach myself. (That’s right, I found it so motivating and it resonated so much with me that I signed up to take classes to become certified myself! ) I also want it to be a place to share inspiration and my love of design with a bit of every day life thrown in too. I hope you’ll come along for the ride, bad 80’s music, cat stories, crazy dance moves, sunshine and all.

P.S. check out those stylin' glasses from when I was kid. (Ironically I have some that are similar now!)
